Join the Musicians of the

WNO/KCOHO

as we celebrate our

40th Anniversary Season

March 24th, 2019

5:30pm

Immediately following the WNO’s matinee of Faust, in the Kennedy Center Opera House Musicians’ Lounge

This very special event is a rare opportunity for the opera, ballet, and musical theater community to come together and get to know their orchestra and one another. Peter de Boor, Orchestra Committee Chairman, will welcome our guests and emcee the evening which will include:

Music Performances: Musicians from the orchestra will play 4 selections from the opera and ballet repertoire in a Name that Tune game. Musicians participating include Concertmaster, Oleg Rylatko, Principal Cellist Amy Baumgarten, Principal Harpist, Susan Robinson, Principal Tuba, Seth Cook, the flute section, and the french horn section.

Great Food: Musicians will be bringing dishes that represent their home country or home state (our musicians hail from 11 countries and 22 different U.S. states.) Each dish will be marked with a sign that names the country/state and name and instrument of the musician who brought it.

Special Decor: Guests will have the rare opportunity see the back of house space reserved for the Opera House Orchestra. Our space will be transformed for the evening with special lighting, flowers and other decor to accommodate and welcome our guests.

Orchestra Trivia Contest: A written trivia contest will create a fun way for guests to learn more about the orchestra and interact with musicians as they look for answers.

Prizes/Gifts: Winners of Name That Tune and the trivia contest will be given new 40th Anniversary t-shirts, CDs of some of our musicians and other special prizes.

Photographic History of the Orchestra: We will have a slide show of photos from the orchestra's 40 year history looping on a screen for guests to view throughout the evening. Look for trivia answers here!

Directions to lounge:

Access to the Opera House Musicians' Lounge is through the Opera House Stage Door in the Hall of Nations, on the plaza side of the Hall. Musicians will be waiting inside the Stage Door to escort you to the lounge. In case you arrive while the escort is out of the room escorting guests down, and you would prefer not to wait for the escort to return, the security guard on duty will have a guest list and can allow you to enter through the inner door. Then take the elevator down to the Dressing Room level, or take the stairs down one level, turn right out of the elevator or stairs and the Musicians' Lounge will be a very short distance down the hall, first door on the left. We will provide signage as well.

If you are waiting for an escort, you may also call Elizabeth, at 703-843-4710
